I only have about 15-20 hours on this tube.
It IS a winner!
Great, and I mean GREAT top end. Good mids and bass. Not like a vintage style sound but a more balance relaxed sound. Very dynamic and a great sound stage. It really is a good tube. Thanks Jim!
Sylvania 12AU7W. Also a fantastic sounding tube. More fuller in the mid. Great treble and bass. Dynamic.
Sylvania 12AU7. Seems to loose a lot of the top end for some reason. Good otherwise. Has that typical vintage overly full midrange. Less in dynamics.
RFT 12AU7. I can't put my finger on this one. It's lacking something??? Dynamics, soundstage??? Like I said it's just missing something.
RCA 12AU7A. Great full bodied tube. But it clearly lacks top end.

Curious-is this a current production tube, or vintage? Also curious what you are using it in.
Al,
Charles answered below, but I wanted to add that I'd told him what a very pleasant surprise it was when this new production tube arrived. I've had a large number of very positive reports about the new Tung-Sol, and he decided to give it a try. IMHO it is every bit as good as much of the old stock, and apparently he has the same opinion.
I was looking for something to replace my Sylvanias in case they crapped out. I'm OCD about having backup tubes. Tried a number of tubes but, none could compare.
Popped in the TungSols and after about only 5-10 hours I realized these tubes are actually BETTER!!!!! then my coveted Sylvanias.
They have it all. Tops, mids, bass, balance in spades, GREAT dynamics - a real WINNER!
Paired up with the Gold Lion KT66s - I'm like a teenage and my never leave my room! But only for a different reason now that I'm older.
These are the new production TungSols. And I'm using it in a VTA ST-70 Bob Latino kit.

My favorite 12AU7 for a long time and one that is rarely equaled for my preferences is old stock Amperex Heerlen Production. The one I am particularly fond of is the 7316. The problem now is that there are an incredible number of counterfeits being pushed, so be careful, if you want to try them.
Look for an old computing or instrument company label such as Hewlett Packard and the correct code which should have a Ct_ on top line and a Heerlen right triangle starting the second line.
I have not heard this new Tung Sol, but think that new production has gotten so much better in the last 5-6 years or so, that OS tubes may not be worth troubling with.
