They are replacing a set of Shuguang EL-34. I was concerned I would loose some of the fullness and richness of the midrange. As well as making things a little too "clinical".
WELLLLL was I wrong! Not only is the top range OK, but it is just wonderful! No clinical sound there! And the midrange is fuller and richer than I could have even imagined. So not only were my fears of changing out these tubes unwarranted but comically wrong, they improved things.
Like I posted on another forum. It's like I elevated my stereo to sound like what you would expect a $15k stereo to sound like.
What a HECK of a tube!
Thanks Jim McShane and Bob Latino for recommending them.

That's fantastic. I'm glad that everything worked out.
Interesting.
KT66 is my favourite output tube in the Rogue.
But my GECs won't last forever and I would like to run this tube type more often. I may have to try out these Gold Lions.
Could anyone who has been running these for a while comment on reliability and how many hours you have put on them?
I've heard the new issue Gold Lion KT66 is pretty bang on with the original. While it hasn't the greyed glass, most reviews and e-pinions I've seen floating around agree that it's a faithful reproduction.

May your tubes be lively, warm, and long-lasting. Holy be thy heater.
Several thousand hours so far. One tube red plated due to a leaky cap. Bob Latino is adamant about not setting the bias higher than .5v. Mine usually run at .45v with no problem and no perceived loss to my ears.
A very sturdy and reliable tube so far.

Got 'em in my Rogue Cronus. Very nice!
I put Gold Lion KT77's into my VTL ST-80. It is a sensational tube. You will love it

Not only is the GL KT77 a sensational tube,it sounds better than the originals on the top end.

I've been using the Gold Lion re-issue KT-88's on my Bob Latino ST-70. Bought them from Jim McShane. These bottles are hard to beat! As a matter of fact I have zero intentions in getting anything else.
That's been my experience as well. I've tried at least 6 or 7 different sets of output tubes in my Latino ST 70. No EL34, 6CA7, 6P3 or 6L6 has beat the GL KT88 yet. With that said, I going to give the GL KT66 a shot within the next week. Got an order into Jim just tonight.
