I got these this morning from Jim McShane for my Sherwood S-5000 push/pull amp.
Which go in the left and right channels respectively?
Thanks.....

Are you running the Spectra 22s?
Surely not with the Sherwood? What are you using to drive them and how do you like them.
I sold the Acoustat Spectra 2200's last week. I got a $2000 fish house and some cash to boot so I couldn't refuse.
Fish house: A semi portable shelter one puts out on a frozen lake to give shelter while fishing in sub zero temperatures. If you have ever seen the movie "Grumpy Old Men" than you have seen one.
I will get another pair of Acoustats when I have amplifiers (monoblocks) that will do them justice.
I have been in talks with Mike Samra about a pair of McIntosh MC-60 or some Heathkit W-6 amps.

Yes I know about fish huts, have been ice fishing on Lake Simcoe a few times.
Lake hasn't even frozen yet this year.
Usually by IP first within 5%. Then GM within 10%.
The ones you got from Jim are a really nice matched quad. You could do pretty much whatever you want.
I wold go with...
29.6 and 29.3 IP
29.2 and 29.0 IP
Cheers!

Excellent advice Jonesy! Those are about as close as I can come up with. And one other thing to remember - just because the tubes are matched doesn't mean the rest of the circuitry is matched as well. Resistor tolerances, differences in winding resistance on the OPT primaries, etc. all contribute. So when you get as close as those tubes are you can use any tube in any socket. I'm glad you are enjoying them, that's really great to hear.
Jonesy nailed it, a big thanks to him!
Thanks, that's what I did.
I have about a hour on them and they sound really nice. They are different from my Amprexs', but just as nice in their way.
I could buy a matched quad from Jim for what I paid per tube with the others - The McShane Design EL84m quad is a tremendous value by any measure.

I don't think it will matter but I would put the Right 2 together and the left, is left. :^)

I'm assuming you are putting all four in the same amp?
If so then there really isn't much difference being there is no separate bias for each tube or channel. Just the hum selector. Which I just use a meter on the speaker terminals to let me know I hit the low point.
