Not your typical 5Y3GT.
Snip: Some may claim JAN branded tubes are built to better standards , which is unlikely
Ummm....Okay.

Follow Ups:
Tubes built to a Contract Specification are pulls from regular production that meet certain minimum specified conditions. All Vacuum Tubes were routinely tested in production and those that met certain minimum specification were pulled for further testing, those that passed the full contract specification were sent to SilkScreening to reflect the compliance and boxed for shipment. So, JAN tubes meet certain criteria; it is/was common for other (typically commercial) contracts to have different criteria but that is why you might find tubes labeled, for example, Baldwin for use in that company's organ amplifiers. The rejected tubes which are labeled as standard (eg RCA from an RCA factory) fall in one of the following categories:
Tubes that could meet the JAN (or other) contract but are not needed to fulfill the contract
Tubes that fail the contract specification but meet the standard specificationTubes that fail the standard specification (eg do not meet RCA specification in an RCA factory) are crushed and recycled to be re-used in regular production
There are codes on pretty much all non-standard labeled tubes that indicate which factory they came from (eg RCA UK).
Many people are aware of the above but if not, it usually helps.

That is definitely a Bendix 6l06. Relabeling was a common practice among tube sellers and even among tube manufacturers towards the end of the tube making era. Another point, HK did not make any tubes that I know of.
Here's a 6106

Sorry, for the confusion. of course your Hytron is a ruggedized 5y3 and not one on steroids like the 6106. The reply you read was supposed to be for the response by Fender Lover, who displayed a HK 5y3 that is obviously a relabeled 6106. Relabeled tubes are full of quirky stuff like that. I once bought a bunch of 6v6gt that were relabeled 5992 also by Bendix. holiday cheers, Dak
I really like these rectifiers. Slow-warmup 5Y3GT variants. The GE & CBS-Hytron ones last forever. The best built of these types is the Bendix 6106. IMHO.

Be careful. 5Y3WGTB = 6087. OTOH, the 5Y3WGTA is directly heated.
In any event, the "W" in the type code indicates ruggedized construction.

Eli, does this WGTA = fast start-up hold for all eras the tube was made? And by all companies.
I have some H&K labeled 5Y3WGTA that appear to be relabeled Bendix 6106. Like photo.
I'm with you in thinking that specimen is a 6106. Ask Jim McShane to make sure.
AFAIK, "real" 5Y3WGTAs are tough and directly heated.
If somebody gives me a 6106, when I ordered a 5Y3WGTA, I keep my mouth shut. Bendix Red Bank = OUTSTANDING .
