OK, I checked with the manufacturer. He said that the 7189a should be the only tube to be used in this amplifier. Now, getting back to my original question, where might I find a reputable tube seller who may have a quad of NOS 7189a? I really don't want to get into the ebay thing as many times the tubes are not authentic, especially with all the fraud out there that has gone on .
thanks
Follow Ups:
I bought a couple of quads of NOS GE 7189A from Tube World, about 5 years ago. Very, very good tubes. Used them in my Matchless guitar amps.I am not sure he has anymore NOS matched stock. There appears to be no US made 7189A on his website, as of the moment. You should email him.
The other option, for your unit, might be the E84L (7320). I placed a Philips/Miniwatt quad in an amp years ago. Also, very good tubes. But also, hard to find NOS.
The original manufacturer of your amp doesn't have a kit or mod to revert the output tubes to 7189? The Reflektor 6N14P-EV are excellent tubes. However, they are only rated to 7189 specs.
Good luck with your search.

I should have this reply on audio fill. Email Jim McShane. If any one is going to get you into the right tube (that works!!!!) it's him.
