(Of course we're talking about the reissues)I have them in my Quicksilver M60 monoblocks, 1 quad in each amp. I bi-amp so only run them from ~1000Hz and below. I've had them running for maybe 20 hours and so far a significant improvement over some new production EL34s, and not as big improvement over some JJ KT88s I borrowed from a friend. What I hear is very smooth with good, taught bass.
Vs. the KT88s the bass is maybe not quite as full (that may change) but tighter and I hear more detail in vocals and guitar, etc.Nice looking tube, that's for sure.
The fact that Latino recommends them for his amps was certainly something I noticed when researching. I got mine from McShane, who as always has just about the best price (how does he sell lower than the overseas eBay guys??), the best service, and ships in like 15 minutes.

The GL KT-66s are not going to get full
but are tight, extended and clear.
The thing is ...
The best thing that they have going for them
is the awesome silky but crystalline highs
that leaves all the others in the dust.
You are missing something great here.

Thanks DanL, but I run single ended 2A3s from about 1,000Hz up.
I ain't missin' nothin' ;)
I can see the two mixing quite well.
Very similar tonal characteristics.
FYI 6L6GCs will mix well with 300Bs.

One of the reasons I DO like tubes is the rolling.
How do the following differ?
6L6 vs KT-66 vs EL-34
I enjoy them all. and look forward to trying them all as well.
I also have to find some 12AU7's to play with.
EL34 is fine but nothing special IMO.
Same goes for the KT77.
6N3C is the most neutral of the family but
I just couldn't get myself to like them.
KT66 is dynamic and extended.
Presentation is forward and bold.
Like front & center at a concert.
6L6GC is warm and full bodied.
Presentation is wide and relaxed.
Like sitting at a small club.
