Congratulations;You have a Telefunken 12ax7.
As the other poster has stated, look at the bottom of the tube and look for the diamond (or square deponding on your perspective) the glass.

Yes it has the square- sounds very very clear but slightly elastic/warm in the upper mids and slightly thin. I like it, but can't tell if I prefer square getter Tung Sols or even short plate Mullards (rolled off highs though). Not bad for $15 dollars though huh!?!
I find the Telefunken 12ax7's to be a great tube in some applications and lacking in others.
I think they are probably the best tube from the lower mid-range up. I especially like what they do on the top end with their buttery smoothness without being rolled off in the least.
For phono sections that tend to be a bit noisy I like the spiral wound filaments such as the 12ax7-lps.
Now go find a few more and match 'em up and start rolling. Just don't tube roll Telefunkens when you've been drinking, as most have had their writing worn off and look identical to 12au7's. I did that a while back......

My setup is super simple- Hegel HD2 into APPJ PA0901 (1- 12ax7- 2- el84, SE ultra linear) info B&W CM8, 3.5 watts kills in an apartment. I use JJ power tubes- I find they are clear and even wifh full bass. I just change the 12ax7 for different flavor. So far it's Tung Sols or Mullard I63 73' labeled Amperex Globe. I have GE short plates that sound super clean and pleasant. I don't even want to start getting into NOS power tubes- finding matches sets is a expensive pain.
