I seen both of these brands in various power tubes, and am curious about them. does Anyone know where they are manufactured? Most of them appear to be Chinese. Am I correct in my assumption?
thanks-

Thanks for the input. My guess is the TAD are Chinese made as well.
When it comes to TAD, they're kinda like Groove Tubes. They have a mix of cherry-picked products from New Sensor, JJ, and Chinese sources. From what I understand, their STR (special tube request) products are Chinese.
If you browse through their products, they're pretty direct about it, surprisingly. You'll see they tag their tubes with "STR", "Selected", "NOS", "Matched", as well as suffixes like "R" (Russian), "Cz" (JJ), etc.
It seems TAD had specific rights to these STR tubes. Perhaps they had exclusive/private access to engineers, tooling, IP rights, or whatever. However, we've seen some interesting tubes out of Shuguang lately that have escaped their branding - TAD's 7025 Mullard-style remake, Penta's amazing solid-plate KT88SC, and now the RCA-style 6L6GC. All of these models are now also sold under the Preferred Series brand at the TubeStore.

May your tubes be warm, long-lasting, and always lively. Holy be thy heater.
That makes a lot of sense. I guess I wasn't looking at all of the TAD tubes. I was looking at certain output tubes such as KT66. That for sure appears to be a Shuguang.
El 34 valve art is a shuguang el34 b;very nice and not expensive
tube ;in my c-j mv 50 they sound half way between a reflektor
el 34 (eg tung sol )and a mullard xf2 ;not so extended low
bottom like the Tung-sol ,neither so magic and detailed
as an xf2 ,but they have a reason to be .
I've paid 57,80 for my matched quad and i think they worth
a try .
Ithink you won't be disappointed .Just a little bright on the top
end ,but rugged built.
Anyway i prefer them over tung-sol el34 B(shuguang have an overall
more balanced sound)
always IMHO and in my 2nd rig (c-j pr 3 -c-j mv 50 ;jbl tlx6;acer pc
meridian explorer dac ;ortofon salsa t20 step-up old pioneer
turntable;van den hul and nordost cables)
