try replacing the Chinese tubes with NOS US or new Russian tubes and the grainy sound should go away.

also coupling cap upgrade on the yagin amps helps a ton.

I had swapped out the smaller tubes for NOS NIB GE 5654W, and they didn't make a noticeable difference. In fact, I went back to the stock tubes.

I haven't rolled the power tubes - any specific recommendations?

  try EH 6CA7s fat bottles in place of the EL34s
