12A are nice directly heated triodes. You can look them up - mu 8.5, Ra about 5K. Pretty much a 01A with lower Ra. except most 01A were thoriated and 12A is oxide coated as far as I know with rare exceptions. Not quite sure here which were and which weren't.
To me it doesn't sound as euphonic as a 26, but it's certainly worth using.

So are you saying the 12Amay have a "more detailed" sound as opposed to the 26 ??
Having never heard a Type 12A , but I have heard a WE 101D. If the 12A is anywhere close to that clean, I would want to pursue this further.
Thanks again
Willie
I never used the 12A much. Its virtue is the lower Ra than the 26 or 01A. I didn't think it sounded as good as the 26, which is euphonic, i.e. towards warm and rounded and great on vocals but softish treble. Nor as good as the 01A which is more light and sparkling. I just thought it wasn't interesting in any special way. Goodish sound - it is a DHT - but not more. I'll be sellling mine. None of these sound as good as the 4P1L to me, which is now all I use.
