I have an SA5. I also have the manual somewhere, but what I do is this. It's a little unorthodox, but it does the trick.
This is based on most tubes being somewhat micro-phonic. Even a tiny bit.
You're system will have to be turned on.
With the cover off, set the unit to phono stage. Using a pencil with an eraser end, gently tap the tubes (using the eraser end) and you should hear a slight "thump" come through your left or right speaker. This will identify your left and right phono input tubes. The tube that makes no noise would be the line stage. To be sure, try again with the selector set to line stage and repeat the tapping. Note, you may have to adjust the volume up as needed while doing the tapping of the tubes.
I don't believe any signal tube is micro-phonically impervious to the gentle tapping. Of course be careful of the high voltages and not touch anything else in there.
Hope this works for you.
Cheers!

P.S. If you don't have a pencil with eraser, use anything similar, so long as it is not a conductive material or hard enough that it could break the tube.

Well this is interesting...
I pull the cover off, turn the unit on, after everything goes green I set the input to phono. I then find that ALL tubes produce noise through both speakers. With the input set to CD none of the tubes are microphonic.

Could not find any info around the house. Did find photo on the net where if you look carefully, the far left socket has a v1 marking. All the other inmates are correct in saying the outer two sockets v1 and v3 are phono.

The line stage would have less gain so that could explain the silence on cd setting. And the whole board may be resonating when set to the higher gain phono stage. Tapping the board would confirm that. Still, I sorry this doesn't appear to be helping. I once had the sa3 version. I'll see if I can find any notes but I believe any info I had was given away with the sale.
