Idle curiosity here. I was reading about a Cayin amp, one that takes EL34's and one that takes KT88's. And they are the same amp, they just put in different tubes.
I didn't know you could swap out an EL34 for a KT88?

Follow Ups:
If the bias is adjusted (grid) then you need to cut back a bit to run EL34 on an amp biased for KT-88s.
If the amp is Cathode Self Bias then you MIGHT be fine depending on the voltage being run on the plates.
I has a Jolida back in the day and did a modification to the (grid) bias adjustment in order to widen the range so I could run either.
Preferred the NOS Amperex EL-34's but others might not agree.
...to properly use true EL34 pentodes (though not for EL34-compatible beam tetrodes like the KT77).
Pin 1 (g3) is normally connected by a jumper to pin 8 (cathode) though there are some "kinky" alternatives like Decware's "Hazen grid mod."
