You're right. My speakers are DIY so I think there was less room for fudgery. 4 watts would be a stretch.My first ST-70 back in 1990 was the first amp that blew me away (audio speaking). I sold it, and almost all of my gear at a cross roads moment in time. I was on the upgrade hamster wheel and going down a bad road REALLY fast. In frustration I sold off everything. I regretted selling that 70 ever since. But I upgraded the crap out of it and removed every nuance of tube sound.
Also yes, the NAD is a somewhat ICY in sound. Or maybe it's just the way SS does sound?. laser accurate but a tad heartless.
I think I'll eventually lean towards the Latino 70 in the end. Funds are limited so kit form is about as much as I can afford.
To this day I miss that original 70.

A bit more work in building an "El Cheapo Grande" than starting with a kit. A "Grande" could easily cost less.
