My ARC VS110 popped real loud and emitted that tell, tale burnt smell. I shut it down and then powered back up and checked the bias. V7 was not getting a reading. I changed the burnt resistor a 100ohm screen resistor and still no reading on V7. I then changed the 1ohm grid resistor and still no reading at V7. I tried different tubes and still no reading. What else can I try or do? I did notice that the V7 socket is very loose, could this be the problem? If so, how does one go about re-tensioning it or replacing it? I'm assuming I would need to unscrew the bottom PCB to access the pins on it.Thanks,
Jim

Are you sure you changed the correct 1 ohm resistor. There are two. One is on the cathode and one is on the plate (not the grid). If the cathode resistor is open it will read high, but if the plate resistor is open there will be no reading of bias.

Dan:
I followed the diagram from ARC that shows the resistor locations and values. That said, anything is possible and will check my work when I get the time.

I guess what is worrying me is the burnt smell and I didn't see anything burnt, just a bulged resistor. The other 7 output tube circuits are fine.

Could my problem merely be a cold solder joint on one of the pins on the socket or an arced socket?

A socket adaptor would be very useful here so that you could measure and post voltages on each pin.
