(Fisher 500c)(Sherwood S-5000)
If you have a humming or noisy phone section, I can unhesitatingly recommend the spiral wound Sovtek 12ax7-LPS tube. They can be had for $13 to $16 from many vendors including Amazon.
Until you cracked open the bottom of the amp and post a pic it's hard to know what coupling caps you have.
I have included a pic of Russian PIO's I installed in my Fisher 500c, as well as some massive Russian teflons in my Sherwood S-5000.
Good luck.

Follow Ups:
My pre-amp section is neither humming or noisy now that I replaced a pair of Mullard 12AX7 tubes with similar tubes.
Do you mean by "massive Russian teflons" F3s?
Yes. They are the F3 teflons.
Michael Samra installed them at the time he rebuilt the S-5000.
They take a while to break-in, but we'll worth the wait.
