Yes, you are right - I just want to change its voicing. It is in perfect order, but I already had to replace one humming Mullard 12AX7 tube (in fact, I replaced two) in the phono stage. It took me long to find out cause of the hum, and it was one faulty 12AX7 tube.
Re the coupling caps: I have to open the bottom lid and make a picture, and I don't have such capacity now.
As coupling caps, if my memory serves me, the seller/restorer used Russian K40Y PIO caps, but they looked surprisingly small...
Perhaps, I was too hasty to order the 6P14P-EV tubes? I already confirmed the purchase (but of course, I can refuse).
Follow Ups:
Your EICO output tubes are cathode-biased. You can prolly just pull-&-play those Russian tubes. One thing... you may need to break them in for a little while --- before critiquing them. IME, they can sound a bit "tight" or lack clean top end, out of the box NOS, in certain amps.
Just let music play through them for a week or two, before any serious listening.

K40y caps are compact, so, the size is not a way to distinguish what kind of caps you have.

I have been using el84 brands for over 20 years and I have almost every brand made(I think GEC is the only name brand I don't have). And the 6p14p-ev is right up there with the best in terms of sound. I compared it to Mullard, Telefunken, all the USA brands, others, and I really had to listen very carefully to pick out differences, which were small. In fact, most of my vintage tubes gather dust while the 6p14ps get the play time. And on top of that price and reliability makes the 6p14p a great bargain. Happy listening, Dak
The tubes should be shipped today.

If you have a humming or noisy phone section, I can unhesitatingly recommend the spiral wound Sovtek 12ax7-LPS tube. They can be had for $13 to $16 from many vendors including Amazon.
Until you cracked open the bottom of the amp and post a pic it's hard to know what coupling caps you have.
I have included a pic of Russian PIO's I installed in my Fisher 500c, as well as some massive Russian teflons in my Sherwood S-5000.
Good luck.

My pre-amp section is neither humming or noisy now that I replaced a pair of Mullard 12AX7 tubes with similar tubes.
Do you mean by "massive Russian teflons" F3s?
Yes. They are the F3 teflons.
Michael Samra installed them at the time he rebuilt the S-5000.
They take a while to break-in, but we'll worth the wait.

Get a pair of these!
Possibly the best vintage combo ever is the Cornwall driven by your Eico HF-81.
Old stock U.S. EL84s are inexpensive (typically) and certainly plentiful. Get some and do some rolling. You'll probably find the sound you'll like.

U.S. 6BQ5's are not inexpensive anymore.
That all depends on who sells them to you.

No, they are good tubes and will work well in your amp. It sounds like it has been restored but have the tubes been tested? What EL84's are in it now?
The seller/restorer tested the tubes (vintage Mullard EL-84s) and said they were used but tested strong (which is relative).
Anyway, I will try those Russian tubes when they arrive.
I think you will be pleased with them. The HF81 is a nice amp.
Great tubes - punch, focus, great detail, everything...
