Has there ever been an octal tube with gold plated pins?
Thanks!
Follow Ups:
It is possible to remove the octal bases and have them plated.....
t is also possible to use those pen style plating machines to plate the pins. That being said, I generally find the gold plated pins to be slightly warmer than their original non plated counterparts. Also be careful: in areas with high humidity using the gold plated pin stuff and silver plated sockets can lead to electrolytic interactions, mostly negative.
FWIW and YMMV
PS I've the switcheroo with ceramic base 807's BTW

Yes! In the sixties Radio Shack offered a comprehensive line of tubes all of which had gold plated pins and a lifetime guarantee!!! If the tube failed, all you had to do was bring it to any RS store and you were given a replacement at no charge! Those were the days.......
Those were sorta the days.
Yes, Radio Shack tubes had a lifetime guarantee, which they mostly stood behind. But RS tubes were always a crapshoot. I think they bought from whoever was cheapest at the moment, because tubes (all at the same price) would range from 1960s and 1970s Korean ultra-crap to Mullards and Telefunkens.
I bought a (Korean) tube there once that hadn't been flashed. Thankfully when it cracked aand I took it back one of the two guys there understood what flashing was, thought it was cool, and replaced the tube.
The guarantee was for the lifetime of the tube or, as it turns out, the lifetime of Radio Shack, whichever came first.
Here you go:
Is that a 6SN7GT? They also gold plated output tubes, like 6L6GC and EL34 and 84s? GZ34?
Never seen one of these gold plated pins, vintage octal tubes.

No, the tube in the pic is a 12SQ7. And, they did sell the 6L6GC with a lifetime guarantee/gold pins for $4.55, and the 5AR4 for $4.25 in 1968! I never had a problem with their tubes (rumors back then were that many were made by Hitachi and Toshiba). It was very convenient to be able to pick up a tube needed for a repair job on a Saturday when my wholesale supplier was closed. Different era for sure!

I may have some - remember having a "Lifetime" 6L6GC, among others.
