Hi, I have two Citation I preamp with new capacitors, but they seems to be noisier than my Citation IV and other classic tube preamp. Any ideas?
Thank you for your input.

Hi,
See my posts to your similar post in the Yahoo group CitationSound.
Harmon Kardon acknowledged there could be a hiss problem with the Citation I, when used with higher efficiency speakers. HK provided a fix in such cases.
he can drop the gain a bit by changing R30 and R18 to a 22k CF
he can change R71 and R86 to a 180k CF.

New capacitors by themselves doesn't guarantee suppression of noise. You no doubt have old carbon resistors in there that may exhibit noise and I have seen dirty switches cause noise in these as well.Keep in mind this is an anode follower circuit unlike the more conventional cathode follower.Clean the tube sockets and switches and make sure all solder connections and solid and clean..
I'm assuming this noise you refer to is not a hum but more like a hiss or frying type noise?
