A very three dimensional tube in my amp. Not sure if further playing time will yield a change in sound or not. I'm hoping there is a bit of a smoothing or refinement. I have never used NOS power tubes in the amp. It is really designed as an EL34 amp. Would LOVE to try some Amperex bugle boy EL 34s, but financial reality and availability set in! That being said, I have tried lots of driver and phase splitter tubes in my amp and the only thing that I can listen to are Amperex bugle boys. There is something about those genuine NOS tubes that truly breath life into the music. Trying to find genuine bugle boy 6dj8 tubes that are NOS and not pulls...plus affordable is becoming hard to do. Been burned on eBay a few times. Real deal, but not NOS. Ah, for the love of tubes:)
The KT77s have continued to open up over the last 5 hours. Will give them a good critical listen tomorrow.

I have all those tubes you mention..The top ones are the Dutch Amperex SQ DD getter you would like to try and next are the better metal based ones and then the EI KT90s,type 2 and the Mullard XF1 fat base. IMHO,the reissue KT77s best all of them in most areas after about 100 hours. They don't best the KT90s in the sense you can't really compare them being they serve different purposes.
I also put up pair of reissue KT66s and the KT77s and the KT66s are another GEM you want to try because they are very impressive.
You also might try some RCA 6L6gc black plates..Those are my favorite in many of my amps but there are others you can buy that come close..Again,this is my own opinion and findings and YMMV.

Phew, thanks Michael for adding the line that the KT77s best those previous tubes in most areas!!! Thought I might have to remortgage the house:). Love your tube collection and envy the fact you have been able to do that comparison in person. I appreciate your input! Not sure my amp will take the KT 66....I think I pushed it pretty hard with the KT 90s.
Did you experience a noticeable break-in with the KT77 over the first 100 hours?
I know your amp extremely well and it will take KT66s and 6L6gcs just fine. They are easier on your amp than a KT88 even tho they bias essentially the same as far as negative voltage on the control grid.I have lots of tubes. That was just a few.
