These are pretty OK.
Any good quality tube will be fine.
Are you looking for fruity descriptions of sonic nirvana?
Here, I will make one up for you.
The only KT88 tube that has given the true triode like liquidity and mid range purity when wired in triode is the Russian Gold Lion KT88 copy. These are the real deal in triode mode that makes the Psvane, JJ, Sovtek, Electro Harmonix, EAT, Telefunken, Tung-Sol copy KT88, KT90, KT120, KT150, 6550, Sino, GE NOS 6550, Sveltlana, Flying C 6550 all sound like absolute crap in comparison.
Follow Ups:
What about fuller KT88G and JJ KT88? How both of them perform in triode mode? And they sounds like in triode?
Work you way up the food chain of tubes. What amp are you going to use them in? We all have sonic preferences. ;-)
My friend just bought a pair of ASL Hurricane MKII and would like to seek information any good sounding KT88 running in triode mode. The stock unit comes with Valve Art KT88. Since this is a big investment for 16 x KT88.
I have asked one of my friend who has Hurricane MKII for years and his unit has been mod with copper PIO 0.22uf caps all the way. And his Hurricane MKII has JJ KT88 with great result.
AFAIK Valve Art are Shuguang export grade are nice tubes. The driver tubes may make a bigger difference than the power tubes.
Or not. Direct experience is the only reliable guide.
FWIW I really like the Dynamicaps and first generation Sonicaps. I have not used expensive exotic caps so far.
Caps and input tubes...because often a tube alone will not do it. Works for me. ;-)
