How do RCA black plate 12bh7's rank?I can tell you that I like the RCA 12bh7 grey plates in my Mc240.
Follow Ups:
I prefer the RCA grey plate to the black plate. But, Raytheon is my favorite.
IMHO, the Raytheon 12BH7 have a cleaner high note. The RCA a richer midrange.
Thanks Fenderlover and everyone. Sounds like the Raytheon BP 12bh7a could be a possibility.
@Fenderlover...would you say that the Raytheons could be tilted towards high frequency? Besides the top end being smooth...judging from my system now...I should also avoid tubes with excessive HF energy. Full bodied vocals is priorty. System is on the lean side, thus HF is emphasized.
Thanks again for your help.
In my experience, the Raytheon are not tilted to the highs. Not like Sylvania. The Raytheon have very good bass and mids. Not warm. But, neutral.
Thanks Fenderlover.
@ Fenderlover or anyone who knows...
I am using 12bh7. Would the 12bh7a be an identical substitute?
Thanks again.
12BH7A is interchangeable with the 12BH7. The "A" version has a controlled heater warm-up. Useful in stringed-series heater circuits. This feature doesn't effect a circuit designed to use the 12BH7.
@Fenderlover....Thanks.
Sorry for being such a pest...can you recommend a reputable online tube vendor? Trying to avoid buying off eBay.
Btw...are you familiar with sq of Westinghouse 12bh7a grey plate?
Thanks again.
