Thanks - good technique and nice shot! I use a Canon 5D for most things. Is the Minimag tungsten or LED? I always have to break out my 120V clamp-lamps to shoot.

The mini-mag lite is a single Tungsten bulb. The LED bulbs gives off a blue light I don't like. My camera's light source is set to Tungsten....rather than cloudy, sunny, etc.I like the first shot here. I was swinging a tad low from behind and ended up with a ribbon of light swirling through the air.
Move George...your mug is in the shot.

I can't say where the blue cast is coming from. More adjustments may be in order....like removing more lights. The basement window behind George is open, but the room is not bright. I had George hold a cloth to help block the window.
Often, I enjoy seeing the reflections and lighting effects on the tube envelopes as much as I do seeing the guts up close.
My son received a nice microscope for Christmas. It's fun to pull out different tubes and look at their structure and coatings at high power.

I'd love to be able to shoot through a microscope. As it is, I'm stuck at about 2:1 (twice lifesize) using a macro lens and extensions. Agree about the tubes - the more silvering, the better!

Nice work! I see you've still got a bluish cast in the highlights, even with incandescent lighting. Does that camera shoot RAW? Do you use Canon's DPP? DPP will let you white balance with an eyedropper, does perfect balance in seconds where Photoshop used to take me half an hour or more. Thanks for the tip on the MInimag, I'll try that!

My computer screen, about 2' behind me was adding to the shot.
Off that goes in the next set of shots. I want the amp brought back so I can take more shots. Too many of the pictures reflected me in the getter flash. I need to step aside after the shutter is hit.
