What do you mean by flat plate? Do you have a brand in mind?
Tung-Sol made a flat plate 5687 in the 1950s and was completely unique in its plate structure when compared with the other T.S. 5687s. A very rare tube.
TS, made only from 1949 until 1951 (I think). Hard to find.

All, clearly some very knowledgeable guys on this thread. I'm trying to get hold of a couple of Tung Sol Black Plate D getter 5687s made in the early 50's. It's difficult to ascertain whether some of the tubes available for sale on the internet (various tube stores and also eBay) are genuine Tung Sol or re-branded RCA (for example) as I understand in the 50's there were quite a number of tubes re-branded (apparently because of the war) to supply to the military. It seems most, but not all, Tung Sol tubes have the EIA code (322) on them but as I said, certainly not all do.
Is there a way I can tell if a tube is a genuine Tung Sol, early 50's 5687 if it doesn't have the 322 code on it?
Would call it a ladder plate rather than a flat plate ( thinking of smooth plate teles)
But it's still "flat" compared to the modern ones with the rectangle "bulge" in the middle.
