and the PSVANE were the only ones to sound 'better' to most listeners than NOS Tung Sol.
Again, it certainly doesn't seem to have any bearing on the market price of NOS tube, yet.

Interesting, I wasn't aware Tung Sol had made a KT88 back in the day. A 6550 yes, KT88????.
thought it was clear from earlier posts, but of course Tung Sol solid plates are indeed 6550s.The original thread was titled "6550/KT88 Recommendations" so I thought it went without saying.
A fair comparison of different model tubes?
I think so as these particular Tung Sol 6550's have sounded better to me than ANY KT-88 of current manufacture including Tesla, Svetlana, etc., in any PP amp I've plugged them into, at least up to this point.

The PSvanes are very good..It also depends on the amp and the type of resistors and caps in the amp that can change the sound..I have noticed that the more hours new production tubes have on them,the more they sound like their vintage cousins.
