Few years ago, when supplies of premium tubes was depleting, we found a huge stash of premium grade Brimar (ECC83, ECC82, ECC81, 6X4WA) /Mullard (ECC83, E188CC, EF86) /Genalex (EF86, 6X4WA) flying leads tubes.
We then went to work on a simple plug and play solution. It took about a year of various prototypes (some ugly and unreliable). Final version is what you see in the pictures.
Solution included making pins that are like pipes with holes through them. We found an outfit that machines parts for wrist watches and they were able to create such pins.
Flying leads are straightened, cleaned and then threaded through these holes. Leads are trimmed, followed by a solder bath for perfect fusion. Once attached, you cannot separate the base. It is very solid and works as if it is part of the tube.
Lower part of the base is also used in our socket savers.
As for the 12BH7, we have never see this before. ecline6 seems to have the best guess.

I never knew there was such a thing as 9 pin miniature tubes with flying leads.
You came up with a great solution.

"Still Working the Problem"
We were aware of the flying leads tubes but it was great to find large, untouched lot.
Most of these are Royal Naval Store Depot Copenacre Wilts stock - http://www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/news/headlines/nostalgia/2414389.Life_in_a_secret_city/
and S.I.D, R.E.M.E Donnington stock - http://british-army-units1945on.co.uk/royal-electrical-and-mechanical-engineers/central-and-base-workshops.html
Another surprise was to find very early samples from 1950s and 1960s

Nice job adding on the new bases!
