......and maybe New Sensor believes having multiple distributed sources is a good hedge against one possible result of political unrest in Ukraine. Or maybe the Chinese tubes have better "tone" in guitar amps. Ultimately, only Mike Mathews (or whoever is now responsible for sourcing decisions) really knows.
Follow Ups:
Are the Sino versions sold as 12AX7s while the Russian ones remain B759s, or are they 7025s etc?
Steve
New Sensor promotes the Chinese version of the Gold Lion 12AX7 as a low cost, low microphonic alternative to the original Russian version while (maybe) maintaining most of the cachet of the original reissue. It has the short plate structure typical of older Chinese and Russian mfg. It also has std steel pins vs the gold plated pins of the Russian sourced tube. When I read between the lines, I'm left with the impression the Chinese tube is aimed at guitar amps and the Russian tube is for audiophile apps. The gold plated pins probably have greater appeal to audiophiles than performing musicians.
