I traded for them.
They have much better mids, highs and way way better low end than my cary cad 300 monoblocks.
You know anything about these Toad amps?

Most of the problem with the Cary's is those big black trashcans on the back. Cary amps can be saved.
Chip, how can those Cary amps be saved? I have an SLI-80 and would like to know! thanks
I think Chip was suggesting the PS electrolytic capacititors could be replaced. I agree with him, there are much "better" PS capacitors available these days.
Cheers.

that was what Michael said, replace with motor run caps, which I did, as well as a few other things, was wondering if there was some other things Chip may have incorporated in his upgraded supply...
...but I find the statement "Serve powerful USA allied forces" on the back panel a little disconcerting. Is it subtle mockery or just bad translating? ;-)
Bad translation, I'm sure. Amps are made in Bejiing.
10 lbs of chassis and innard, 50 lbs of transformer
I think you should pull off the transformer covers to actually see what's under there.
You might have 45 lbs. of transformer cover and 5 lbs. of iron.
Also, be very careful with those tube sockets. Nearly all of those ceramic Chinese wafer sockets that I have used end up breaking pretty easily.
