The 7308 is a "true" Amperex that was made at Hicksville, NY.
Dutch giant Philips bought up many brands, including Amperex. That purchase was made to give Philips access to the huge amount of money DoD was spending.

Ok, I always thought that the seams at top indicated a European tube.
One is marked in white, 253. I wonder how to determine date of manufacture?

You should see two rows of code "etched" in the glass. Might have to move a little under the light to see it. They would indicate which plant the tube come from, and manufacturing date.
There are a few sites that provide information on how to decode the info. If you see a triangle at the start of the top row, it was manufactured in Heerlen, Netherlands. Other information indicates year, week, and batch that it was manufactured.

Asterisk (*) indicates that they came from Long island. Second character in second row is 1 digit year (2 : 1962, possibly '72)
it was just on European tubes. After all these years I didn't know that.Anyway, there is an * 7E and under that USA. There are actually 3 lines but I can't read to top one above the *7E.
I didn't realize how much they are going for now. Nice to find 2 pair. After checking them in my tube tester, each pair is very close. Nice.
