I'm ordering parts for a circa 50's heathkit OL-10 oscilloscope.
Do I need to replace the wax covered capacitors, 0.1uf/1200v coming off a rectifier tube for the scope tube.
I would like to leave as much as possible original. And this scope isn't really being used for anything other than sentimental use.
thanks
charles

I'm really just trying to get this scope working safely, almost as a toy. I have a real scope.
If I need to replace the films, can it just be the ones that see a significant voltage?
If I replace all the film caps then the only original thing left are the ceramics and tube sockets.

If you want the best of both worlds, gut the old caps and put modern ones inside. New film caps are smaller and will fit. You can seal the ends with hot glue. Now the unit will be safe and look right.
If you're leaving it on a shelf, keep it stock. If you're using it, I'd replace them.
Be safe.
