The pentode/triodes, as a group, are a problem. All have gone or are going the way of the Dodo. None are being produced and debates about being "best" are (IMO) a waste of time. Be glad that some stock remains, which allows us to keep some fine "vintage" gear working.
We can only hope that New Sensor brings at least 1 type back into production. Mr. Mathews, are you listening?

Ao one point, NSC did market a 7199. As I recall,it wasn't very good, it was prone to have hum problems in ST70 amps. I don't know if they still sell it or not.
sovtek sold a "7199.look alike". But it did not fare well in sca-35.
Unfortunately i never got hold of one so i could measure it in my
tubetracer.
