Best I heard out of over twenty various 6V6 tubes from metal, to G glass to GT glass. Old stock Sylvania 6V6GT with oval plate (not plate with square shoulders) or expensive & rare Sylvania 6V6G (shoulder) glass tubes were best.
As mentioned, new manufactured Tung Sol 6V6GT is excellent per others although I never heard that tube.
The lot of twenty various 6V6 tubes was tested in a Eric Kingsbury Music Machine using a redesign 6SN7 phase inverter & 10K plate to plate primary audio transformers. The power tubes were triode connected per Eric's design. The amp was stunning, was on par with my DIY PP 45 amp producing slightly better dynamics and slightly less bass although abundant.

Although they aren´t new production I find the best sounding 6V6 tubes where made in Europe by RFT. The build quality is amazing as is the sound. Then there also is Standard 5S2D (6V6) from Sweden, also a fantastic 6V6.

I'd like to see what you built, espeically if it's in a league with 45s. 6SN7s and 6V6s are two of my favorite tubes. :)
