Amazing...Has anyone else checked the price asking for this paperbook ?
Amazon wants $690.00 for used copies !!!!! Apparently out of print but that price out to encourage a reprint.....IMHO
Follow Ups:
I remember that book! I still have 8 or 9 new copies in a drawer...and the original supplements too!
Well hey there's one on eBay right now starting at $30
Good condition, not mint but much cheaper :)
Right you are! The seller describes condition as "good".
To me, at best the condition is Fair-Poor...scuffed, torn and dog ear cover, pencil marks and writings inside with creased pages inside (according to description)
No bids so far...hmmm, wonder why.
If I follow the below grading criterion, my copies are in the Fine range.
As New: The book is in the same immaculate condition as when it was published. This could be the description for a book that has been lost in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed or even opened yet may still be some years old.
Fine (F or FN): A Fine book approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects to the book, jacket or pages.
Very Good (VG): Describes a book that shows some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Any defects should be noted by the seller.
Good (G): Describes the average used worn book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects should be noted by the seller.
Fair: Worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. (which must be noted). Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn. All defects should be noted.
Poor: Describes a book that is sufficiently worn. Any missing maps or plates should still be noted. This copy may be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.
Binding Copy: describes a book in which the pages or leaves are perfect but the binding is very bad, loose, off, or nonexistent.
Reading Copy: A copy usually in poor to fair condition that includes all text presented in a legible fashion. The copy is fine to read but nothing more.
Well yes. Wouldn't be good to buy if you're a collector or as an investment but for someone who wants the book to read. Might be a good buy since it's so rare and expensive.
of a one of a kind book. If someone scans the book into a CD-disc format, the prices will drop.
Is copyrighted IIRC.
Some store in. Florida wants$1600.......
Just checked eBay and the latest "sold" listing was for $69. Too bad; I could have sold mine to get the parts for a 211 amp I want to build. Have to wait a few more years I guess.
Wow! I'm glad I bought mine when I did (and still have it)!!
People can ask whatever they want for their product. This seller obviously is pushing the limits, and has the 'ole "dancing dollar signs" in his eyes...
All standard used book sites are similarly priced if not higher (abe , alibris , amazon, etc.)
Probably someone was listing it for that unrealistic price. Then a few other owners came along, saw the high asking price, got excited, and quickly listed their copies for the same price. The dancing dollar signs disease spreads. The absurdly high asking prices, even if never obtained, do unfortunately drive up the actual selling price of the item over time. I see the same thing on eBay with absurdly-high prices on LPs -- multiple hundreds of dollars for albums that usually sell for $50 or less.
I found a copy of Tube Lore about a year ago for $40 or less IIRC. Set up notificatons at Powells, eBay, etc, and perhaps you'll find a copy too!
