Any etched date codes? Delta symbol?
Must admit I am stumped also, never seen a bugle boy with gold pins. But mislabeling was fairly common at the time and the tube does look legit, like an Amperex 6992.
Follow Ups:
It has no delta code or any etching at all that I can find. I own other legit Amperex bugle boy tubes and they all have the delta code.
It does look like a 6992 and that would be great because those were gold pin but the stamp on the tube states it is a 6dj8. I'm confused for sure.
I'm far from an expert, but it DOES look like a legit Amperex tube. I think you are most likely right that it is a 6992 labeled as a 6DJ8.
If Amperex had no stock of 6DJ8 and got an order for them, they would likely sub 6992 rather than loose a sale.
Also, I have had Amperex tubes with labels not easily marred.

Freak out...Far out...In out....
