thanks, Eli! I am looking to re-tube a HK Cit V which uses 7581 and was wondering if I could use the 6BG6G tubes in it, heard the Cit runs them hard...
Follow Ups:
I used 6BG6GA tubes in my Citation V back in the 1980s because they were selling for "give away" prices and good 6L6GCs were scarce and expensive. I wouldn't bother today with so many great 6L6s available, but 6GB6s are still cheap enough that if they don't last their full life expectancy it is not a tragedy.
6BG6Gs are still much less expensive than the new 6L6 variants, I can get a quad of NOS 6BG6Gs for around $36, and at hamfests and the like, $4-10 a quad, unmatched. A quad of new 6L6 variants are closer to $80-100 match quad. I have heard the new variants are very good, wonder how they compared to NOS 6BG6s, any experience? (well obviously in your cit V you have heard them, what did you think?)

It was 30 years ago! I can't even remember what I had for breakfast....
Once the Russian 6n3C came along I bought those and converted back to 6L6. The Citation V is now so old that it is ready for a second restoration.
