A dealer says that gm matching is not needed for output tubes, just inputs and only matches for zero plate current to reduce hum. What's up with this?? Matching for gm and Ip seems to be standard and curve traceing the best. Thanks, Tweaker
Follow Ups:
Most will only match static current draw at a particular voltage and bias setting that has nothing to do with operational voltages. If you want matched tubes, buy 10 and get a curve tracer.
An exception is AA sponsor Jim McShane. He matches tubes under conditions found in amplifiers, not textbooks.
