I know that Rogue recommends against using the KT150 in the Cronus Magnum integrated amp. Quoted from an email I received this morning from Nick at Rogue Audio:
"The transformers in the Cronus are not optimized for the KT150, so you would want to stay with the KT120's."
Follow Ups:
Abe, did they say anything about testing the kt150 or modifying the amps to be able to use them?
I emailed Mark O'Brien at Rogue about the KT150s in the Cronus Magnum, and as Abe states, they won't work.
But Mark has ordered some transformers to test with the KT150s and said he might have some news about using the tubes in a product at the end of the year. Or not.
Good info. I hope Mark follows through with a KT150 power amp or integrated.
I was hoping to use KT150s with my Cronus Magnum just for grins 'cuz the tubes look so cool. But then I noticed the price. $95 each. Still, I hope Rogue finds a way to use them in a future product.
That's what I was hoping. Thanks! Hopefully if testing goes well they will have an upgrade available.
No, it was a very brief email exchange. I just wanted to know if I could use KT150's in the Cronus Magnum.
BTW, those KT150s are not cheap ($95 USD ea.) which is about twice the price of a KT120.
Happy 4th from Colorado!

Interesting. I read The Absolute Sound review linked off the Rogers website. It stated that the amp puts out the same power with KT120 or KT150 tubes. This leads me to believe that the power supply in that amp cannot take full advantage of the KT150's capabilities.
