Should I sink some money into tube rolling. I always loved that.
My Sherwood has in the preamp section three ribbed telefunks (sp?). Great, I mean GREAT sound.
Should I try enjoying others??? Seems a cheaper way to spice life up a little.
I also have to get a second set of outputs. Should I go with the newer ones or wait for some vintage NIB 7189's to pop up?

PS again, I really can't see getting anything better than my current two setups. The tubed Sherwood and the SS passive driven NAD C275BEE

I may have misinterpreted you original request. It sounds like you're actually pretty content with your present set-up. I would certainly not touch Mike's modded Sherwood other than a mild tube rolling adventure. I can see this changing the flavor a bit, but it sounds like it has the synergy you want right now with its current tube compliment.
Now I can only "assume" the NAD would benefit with a tube pre-amp in place of the passive. In this case I'd probably look for a nice used CJ, AI, MR RM-5, etc. Yes, the Bottlehead looks interesting as well. Later you could consider the Latino as an alternate power amp for this set-up.
With this all said, it's still impossible to predict if any of this will lead to a "slam dunk" upgrade to YOUR ears.
I'm not at the slam dunk point in audio anymore. I'm already very happy with my two setups. Just looking to have a few add ons or options open for later use and to play with. After a week or two I like to switch my setup, happily I might add, between the Sherwood and that NAD. Both are winners in my book and work very well for me. So I really don't imagine "improvement". Just another GOOD flavor of Ice cream on a hot summer day.
As for tube rolling. That's just a fun thing. Obviously not a necessary thing. I'm just looking to cover my future options being I won't have the funds later.
