might just be another great example of Janglish (American's might need to be familiar with British slang term for penis)

One day a DHL box showed at my door, from China. The outside read "tube amplifier sample". When opened I found the above mentioned "Nobsound MS-10d" in it, it felt light for a "tube amplifier" so I opened it up (it's a sample, right?). The transformer cage in the back is empty, that's right - no transformers at all. The tubes have only filaments connected to 8V secondary of the power transformer inside the main chassis - for nice warm glow I suppose. The actual amplification is handled by 4 FET transistors attached to aluminum heatsink on the bottom. Headphone output is handled by OpAmp chip.
It's a total and complete scam.
.
I think 'Nobcheese' would have been a better name for this manufacturer . Very cheesy looking and very cheesy specs . 25 watts from a single ended EL84 ? That defies the laws of physics !
Al
Maybe it's a switching tubed amp? How ridiculous would that be?
...
digda beat,
Well, there are two homonyms at play here, having quite different meanings. The English slang for the gentleman vegetable is "knob", whereas a "nob" is one of the upper class. You might have heard of "hobnob"- mingle with the elite.
So a "nobsound" might be the sound of snoring from a box at the Royal Opera, Convent Garden.
Cheers,
Bambi B
