I wasn't implying he did as good a job matching as you do. IMHO, all new production tubes need testing beyond 'factory' matching. ;-)

What I was driving at was that the "matched" sets from NS are often far enough mismatched that it could cause problems for the end-user. A 15 ma mismatch - unless correctable with individual bias adjustment for each tube - and 450 plate volts would cause the "hottest" tube to have to dissipate almost 7 watts more heat than a tube 15 ma. cooler biasing. That's no small matter, at least IMHO.

That likely accounts for the various GL KTXX, 12XX etc. issues posted here.

It accounts for some issues, yes. But I've learned that many of the "problems" posted here were not tube problems at all, so suffice to say that good quality matching makes a difference in performance and durability.
I understand and the reality is that new production tubes need to be matched and tested by the vendor because of the poor 'factory matching'.
and your information is very important. I don't know how some can call what they do matching.
