This "tube" looks like some sort of plug-in for a vacuum tube, or just a SS part that uses a 9 pin base. Anyone know what it is? search found nothing. Rectifier?
Labelled 'Engineered Electronics One Shot" T-167. A little over 2", about the size of a 12BH7.
Thanks for any info.

I bought 5 of the Standard series plug-in circuits from an antique shop
for 50 cents each. They make great octal to 9pin adapters. They allow me to use a 12ax7 in place of a 6sl7. Or a 5687 in place of a 6sn7.
They are very nicely made and the chrome ring at the bottom unscrews so you can configure them as needed.
see page 10 of the catalog linked below.
Information on your unit starts on page 26.
There's one that uses my style case on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Engineered-Electronics-Co-Z8762-VINTAGE-TUBE-amplifier-/150245652690
I couldn't find specific information on your T167 or my GZ-90024 but a read of the PDF will give you the idea. This company built circuits into these plug-ins.
I just gutted mine and wire them for my purposes, as an adapter.
BTW Thanks for posting and asking the question. I've been wondering myself but never took the time to look it up. I saved the PDF. It's interesting to me.

Thanks for the info. That link doesnt go anywhere for me, I did manage to find a bit of info from digging a little deeper. Apparently, it's some sort of "vibrator" circuit for test equipment. Nothing useful now. here's what it looks like inside.

Sorry the link doesn't work for you.
Here's a little of what you would have seen.

Octal based electronic components are fairly common in industrial controls.
Relays come to mind. The sockets are heavy duty with 8 screw terminals for connection. They come as surface mount or din rail mount. Great for a bread board set up.
