Hello all, I've been trying to find out if the Russian 5C3S is really equivalent to a 5U4 or if they are more along the lines of a 5Y3. I looked at Duncan Amps tube data sheet but didn't get any where since I don't really know about Cyrillic characters enough to have any success.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does this tube require a special socket, or is it octal?
No, it doesn't require a special socket. Pin out is the same as a 5U4.
I just don't/didn't know what the "real" specs are. Sometimes some of the Russian tubes are marketed by sellers as being "equivilent" to some U.S. tube when in fact they are not quite that.
It turns out that the 5C3s is the same as a 5U4G, which in my case would work fine in my homebrew amp since a 5U4G is what I'm using any way. I just like the cool looking filaments in the 5C3S and wanted to use them for that reason.
I was digging through my stash and found a really cool/odd looking 5R4 which I may use for a while just to say I did. I should take a pic of it and post it here. I've never seen another like it.

...5C3S appears to be the Russian = of 5U4G, not GB. Verify for yourself @ Frank's...5C3S is about 1/3 down the linked page.
Great info. Thanks Steve O. :-D
