Thanks for all the suggestions, guys! I have seen many of the awesome fountains in Rome, plus the Pantheon (personal favourite), the Spanish Steps, and many of the beautiful columns and obelisks they have scattered about. It is a wonderful city, indeed ^^
Aaaand yes the gypsies are in full swing this time of the year. One kept eying my dad's belt. He may have thought he was charming, if just dirty and loud. I saw through his lies. I swear I was ready to punch him in the throat at the drop of sign of trouble hahahahaha The gypsy kids are not so numerous. I think the new tact is to be accompanied by an adult, whom then plays the pity card or REALLY bad accordion tunes. Needless to say, I haven't fallen for their trickery ;)
But other than that, the folks here ARE really nice. Most are REALLY warm and welcoming. Except the waiters, some are pretty rude - can't blame their irritation with tourists, however :P
Thanks for all the suggestions, folks! :)

you're enjoying yourself.....
I really loved the food and the wine, of course.... No matter where we dined, the food was very good, different from the states (fresher base ingredients, perhaps ?). Seemed white sauces were standard in the north and the red sauces only in the south. Didn't matter, everything I ate was good, well maybe not the McDonalds in Rome which was fabulous just to see: everything was made of marble there: counters , tables, floors , walls....
And the history...You see modern cars whizzing by 2000 year old monuments....
As a standard rule of engagement, I avoid every MacDonald's like the plague. On that note, I have (disappointingly so) found a BURGER KING in Rome... To boot, I saw a Pizza Hut in Paris. I'm sad these chains have made a home in Europe. You can literally spit from their doors and hit a REAL restaurant with fantastic food. Why in the world would anyone go overseas to eat MacDonald's?! I'd rather starve on their marble steps hahahaha
But ya, freshness counts! I have had ricotta worth dying for. The buffalo mozzarella is out of this world. Tomatoes are so red! The oils are delicious (not washed out with canola like many brands do here in Canada and US). Pizzas are not just bread. And MAN the wine is cheap and abundant!
I look back at North America and ask... Wtf are we doing?!?!
