... since we're showing off. Of course, you can't see most of the numbers, but it was sweet. Lotsa NOS.

Both actually. I had two scores today. It's been a few days since the last one, so I was due for another. I played hookey from work in the morning to head out of town to grab the scopes, and then later in the day a fellow brought me three boxes full. Oops, there's a new RCA 2A3 in its wrapper. Why? A half dozen 45s, typical 6V6s, 5Y3s, 6SN7s and assorted weeds. I've never come across a 6AQ5 made in Gt. Britain.

That will well replace the last pair of 2A3 you sent me (branded as KenRad). A lot of people have knocked the RCA double plates (including me). While it's true they lack the tonal qualities of the best early single plates, they do offer a more romantic respite from, say, the newer (and unavailable) AVVT mesh plates. I like them (the RCAs). Thanks.
Observe, before you think. Think before you open your yap. Act on the basis of experience.

Look for genuine, UK manufactured, EL90s. While U.S. made 'AQ5s are beam power tetrodes, British built bottles might be "electrically equivalent" true, 3 grid, pentodes. IIRC, Mullard never made "beamies" in their plants.

I got several that way from the old tubed scopes and they used to sell and giveaway these huge Tektronix and Hickok scopes for 10 dollars and I would just walk away not realizing the wealth of 6DJ8s in them.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.
I also found some sweet Mullard ECC88s in an old scope a friend gave me for parts...
Very Nice
