I actually posed the question to see if there is a compelling reason to replace my Sophia 274b with the EML. Apparently there isn't.
I have also had the Philips 5R4GYS in place for awhile. In my Inspire KT150 the 274b sounds better. Not quite as much power as the with the Philips, but more than enough for my system. I am using the Philips 5R4GYS in my PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium Preamp to great benefit.
What I will say is the Telefunken E88CC Kevin is selling is an AMAZING improvement over the Russian driver tubes. This takes the KT150 to a whole new level. Telefunken REALLY knew how to make tubes.

Are you using the Telefunken E88CC as replacement of the 6H30 input tube? Your reference to the "driver" tube confused me. Dennis also included a 6N1P (6H1P) for me to try out.
Yes. I did not like the 6H30 at all. I found the 6N1P to be better. The 6N23P even better. The Telefunken E88CC by far the best.
One of the Upscale Philips 5R4GYS reviewers at said it replaced an EML and he preferred the Philips.
What speakers are you driving?
I am using Musical Affairs Grand Crescendos with PHY-HP KM30 SAG coax drivers. As for your earlier question, the Sophia 2784B is mesh plate.
Nice speakers. I had Hans' Auris II's.
