Don't worry about the 2200uf..The nice thing about using the film caps is,you don't need as much capacitance because they are much more efficient as far as delivery and filtering goes..The 10uf at 400v you can leave alone unless you want to change to a Wima or a Panasonic of a higher value.. The 50uf@500v panasonic polys are more than enough for those 100uf and they are 2.5 inch long and about an 1.2 inch thick.
On my AES SET amps, they used a pair of 1200uf electrolytics in series meaning it was 600uf at 900v,I replaced them with a pair of 70uf motorrun caps in parallel giving me 140uf at about 700dc and the amps had not even trick of hum at 16 watts and the amps now make a better 10khz sq than they ever did.
Dennis Hadd always over filters things with very so so caps.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.

Hi Mike, could you direct me to where those Panasonic caps you told me about are available (series designation or number) as I'm having a little trouble locating them. I like your suggestion and I think I'll run with this before I begin the total overhaul of the amp in my 2nd system.
While looking for the panasonics I came across a couple of threads on JB caps. I did some reading on them and I think they could fit the bill also as they offer a 400v line which is a little smaller than the panasonics. Tomorrow I'm going to pop the hood on the AE-3 and take some exact measurements so I know what I'm working with as far as available space
So Mike, is there a rule of thumb that you use when replacing an electrolytic with a film cap?
Not really
In a preamp, you don't need tons of capacitance as Conrad Johnson has shown as they use film caps in their power supplies..Lets look at the quad amps..You see a pair of 16uf electrolytics doing the high voltage filtering along with a choke.A 20uf or 30uf poly there would be fine..For the other 16uf I would use a 35uf poly.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.
