A guy on an earlier thread wanted to see a Japan EL34 labeled Mullard. I don't recall that ever happening, but it's possible. But under the Amperex name it did after Amperex was bought by Richardson/National. Here's a picture of one.
Japanese tubes are excellent. But in 1980 Japanese products were considered lower quality, and we all know that "Japan Incorporated" was going to put the US out of business. Like China today.
As I mentioned in another thread, the best way to spot an Amperex tube that should raise a red flag is to look at the "R" for registered at the end of Amperex. If the R is centered to the right of the X then it is from the Richardson days. This tube was labeled Made in Holland.

I have a pair of NOS/NIB just like that. Seams in the glass, printing on the box and printing on the tube base.
It's good to know just what they are.
"Japanese tubes are excellent."
So you say there are good tubes? How much do you think a NOS pair should be worth?

I don't know the value. I have some but haven't pulled all of them together to sell them. But they are very good, as are the 12AX7 and 5AR4. The 5AR4 also have the X seam on top. The 12AX7 have a caramel colored getter which looks bad but is normal.

That was me and thanks for that . I have seen Richardson 'Amperex' before but never a Matsushita EL34 with Mullard markings like was previously claimed . Personally I think it's BS that Mullard bought in Matsu EL34 and the likely reason why (if such tubes exist) is rebranding to increase value by a north American distributor as I've never seen one this side of the pond . With the stock of NOS drying up , this rebranding nonsense if claiming quite a few victims . Mainly on Ebay but there are some US based dealers who don't know what they are represnting with buyers who don't know what they're really buying . Recently , for example I have seen Taiwanese sellers with JJ 12AX7 rebranded as Tesla ECC803S and just about every warning sign is there . Also seen a lot of 1980's Mullard Cv4003 bottlewashed and rebranded with old shield logo being represnted as 1960's production . I used to buy these in for £1 each on cases of 100 ! The source of these fakes/rebrands is here in the UK and they advertise misrepresented items openly on their website
