I bought a set of the ECC83 Gold Lions and gave them a whirl in the simplest amp I have, a Line Magnetic el84 single ended mini amp. In direct comparison the PSVANE TII, it fell short on detail, air and midrange tone. I guess 100 bucks is what it costs to get a good 12ax7 pair. My favorite old stock is the Mullard and my favorite new tube is the Psavane. I guess there are no free rides in tubes snobbery! I'm still looking for the great budget 12 ax7.
Aren't transistors alien technology?

Interesting, how long did it take to burn in the Psavane?
I compared TII with gold pin genelex gold lion, not the old genelex and found the Psavane to be very soft and lacking dynamics. Perhaps they needed more time on them. Maybe it's the crazy low operating point I run at.
I'm about to try some Tesla frame grids. Only hope they are not fakes when they arrive.
I'll keep you posted
Smart
If you are running them easy the PSvanes will take a long time to settle in.

Which Gold Lions did you compare them to? There are two.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.
