I've had two people contact me about Dennis Had's (the founder of Cary Audio) Inspire amps that he's making using KT150's. Both guys LOVE them. I called Dennis and he said that in single ended mode the KT150 clips beautifully.
They are expensive suckers, but maybe not if they really last. I think I will have Dennis build one for me for fun.
We've been selling KT150's but I haven't had enough time to really give them a run through. Any thoughts?
Dennis sells them on Ebay as he builds them. If you guys and gals are looking for a single ended amp I would look at them. He's high on my cool-guy list and I would love to launch a company with him. I can't believe that Cary "retired" him. He has vision and passion like few do.

I have nothing but good things to say about Dennis Had, his passion for the hobby is infectious!! I am still using a SLP-98P F1 preamp that he designed and I bought from you Kevin.
That said, I did buy one of his Inspire KT-88 amps, and tried various different tubes in it, but I just couldn't get it to sing at all. I don't know who was more disappointed, me or Dennis. I thought my 91 dB - 8 ohm speakers were up to the task, but it just did not work. Oh well, it was still a fun experience. Dennis sent me development pics every step along the way, it was a fun experience even though it didn't work out. He did tell me that my amp could use KT-150 tubes too, but I never got around to trying them out, only 6V6 and KT-88 output tubes, along with a couple different regulators and drivers.
My Inspire KT150 amp shipped on Monday. I’ll get back on my initial impressions after some tube break-in. I will be comparing against the Quicksilver Triode 6C33C mono blocks. I know, a completely different animal, but that’s what it is.
Kevin, I talked to you a few weeks ago about purchasing a cd player. It’s on the back-burner for now since I purchased the Inspire amp. Maybe sometime in June.

I have owned 5 amps built by Dennis and loved them all. Currently own some modified 805 AEs and also a modified 300 SEI. I wonder how these new KT150 amps would compare to the 300 SEI design? That is a killer headphone amp.
It's the HP race for amps.If you build, they will come.
