Copy of the RCA 5881 blackplate? That is a good one! Gotta love some of these clowns.
Next up a copy of the RCA 6DJ8. Should be a killer tube!!!! A blackplate no less.
Follow Ups:
An RCA 6DJ8 would be a killer ... not. Not if they sound like the 6FW8's they made. Only reason I hang on to the pair of 6FW8's I have is because they are so rare, not because they sound good. Has been an interesting thread.
I have a bunch of Siemens made RCA that are very nice.
I also have some that I bought in India. The guys there remanufactured RCA boxes with great detail, but it was still easy to spot the print wasn't as sharp and the paper was too glossy. But they tried!
They printed the tubes in two colors, red and white, like a real RCA and marked them "Made in USA". What's funny is the tubes they relabeled they could have sold for more if they left them as-is instead of trying to pass them off as new. Though they were labeled USA, the tubes were all Siemens, Telefunken, and Amperex Holland tall-bottle.
I will sell them years down the road when tubes that have funky logos but are still great tubes have more value.
