Found this tube in a Sansui Tubed Integrated we just got in. It was next to a cracked ceramic power resistor. Never seen a melted plate before.

Oddly enough, this one still worked and tested OK. Replaced it anyway.

I stuck a pair of brand NOS/NIB GE 6L6GCs in one of my Mac Mc60s for the hell of it and it sounded really good but after about 5 minutes,the glass sucked in at the sides and the micas on top bent downward.I still have the tubes..I did this back in 2005 and if you didn't crank it up,the tubes wouldn't have melted the glass but guess what,they still work.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.
